The Australian team have announced their Test squad for the upcoming Pakistan tour. The 18-men squad have minimal changes from the Ashes squad as Australia are likely to visit Pakistan with a full-strength squad.
The Australian side will be visiting Pakistan for the first time in almost 25 years. This is the Test side’s first tour since 2019. Australia having lastly played in 1998 will be traveling to Pakistan with a full-strength squad as the talks of critical players drawing their names seems to be unproven.
Australia will be playing three Test games with the hosts, starting the first Test in Rawalpindi on March 4, followed by Karachi Test on March 12 and Lahore will be hosting the last Test match on March 21.
The series will be followed with both the countries playing 3 One Day Internationals and one T20I match. The remaining white-ball games in the series will be having a different squad for the Australia team and the team shall announce the limited format squad separately.
Ashton Agar has been added to the squad for the Pakistan tour, being one of the players who did not play the dominating Ashes series. Josh Hazlewood comes back after recovering from the injury and looks to provide a sensational performance.
The Australian squad for the Test format is Pat Cummins, Ashton Agar, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Marcus Harris, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Michael Neser, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Swepson, David Warner.
Andrew McDonald is appointed the interim coach for the upcoming Pakistan tour as Justin Langer left his role of head coach after the Ashes win. Andrew is one of those critical candidates who can be considered as the next head coach for the Australian team.
