AUS vs IND: “Kohli is irreplaceable for India as a batsman and leader” says Allan Border

Virat Kohli will return to India, after the end of the first Test match. In Kohli’s absence, Ajinkya Rahane will lead the team in the remaining three tests. One of Australia’s greatest, Allan Border feels Kohli can’t be replaced as a batsman and leader. The Australians will have a key edge after the departure of Kohli.

The first test match will be played at The Adelaide, Oval starting from December 17. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has granted paternity leave to the Indian batsman. Kohli is set to be with his wife for the birth of their first child.

“I think that is a big ‘out’ for India,” Border told a leading newspaper. “He is irreplaceable at the moment as a batsman and as a leader,” he added.

Kohli led India to their first Test series win in Australia on their last tour in 2018-19. However, the home team was playing without their two main batsmen, Steve Smith and David Warner. the both were serving their one-year bans for ball-tampering.
