The Indian team for the third test has been announced as they play the Australian side tomorrow in Sydney.
Rohit Sharma is straight away added in to the side as he was declared the vice captain of the side. Sharma missed out most of the Aussie tour as he was injured and was added late in the squad. Rohit joined the team on 30th December in Melbourne after the Boxing Day win.
Mayank Agarwal has been dropped to make place for Rohit. Agarwal didn’t have the form he showed in the previous tour down under. Mayank was given 2 tests to prove his spot in the team but couldn’t live up to the expectations of the team and management. Hence he was accordingly dropped.
The second change in the team was a forced one as the most experienced pacer of the side after Shami and Ishant, Umesh Yadav was ruled after complaining about pain in legs. He was sent to scans during the match and didn’t participate in the second game after walking out midway through the over. He will be replaced by the young pacer from Delhi, Navdeep Saini who will play his first match in the longest format of the game. Saini was the most obvious choice for the team to go with as he had the pace and bounce which could be useful in the Australian conditions. There were tumors about Thakur getting a nod and Natarajan being added to the squad also raised some eyes. But finally the decision was made and Saini got the nod from the team management and captain.
Australia are expected to have changes in their side as well as their batting hasn’t been upto the mark.
