The Indian team is currently in Australia defending the Border-Gavaskar trophy. In this series, Injuries have been troubling the Indian team as many key players have been ruled out earlier as well.
This chain began in the IPL where Ishant Sharma suffered an injury which ruled him out of the rest of the tournament. He was sent back to NCA for rehabilitation and to be fit before the Australia tour. Rohit Sharma too was ruled out for the major part of the series. He is now in Australia for the third and fourth test. Bhuvneshwar Kumar too was ruled out before the series began as he suffered an knee injury during the IPL.
While in Australia, India’s go to bowler Mohammad Shami was ruled out after the first test after he fractured his hand.
Kohli took a paternity leave as he is expecting birth of his first child. Umesh Yadav, who was the senior pacer in the squad in Shami’s absence also complained about pain in calf muscles. Later he too was ruled out for the remainder of series as India still has two tests to go.
Now another bad news is coming in from Australia as KL Rahul has suffered a wrist injury which has forced the Indian team to rule him out for the remainder of the series. KL was in the contention to make his way into the squad for the third test but this injury came in his way.
Rohit Sharma will most likely play the third test as he is the vice captain of the squad.
