The third test between India and Australia is down to the final day now with Australia going for the kill and India trying to save the test. India is 2 wickets down and needs 309 runs in a day to win the test or survive the entire day in order to draw the match. India has been outplayed by the Aussies in almost all departments in this match. Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja were injured during the Indian first innings. Pant suffered a blow to his left elbow off Cummins delivery and Jadeja suffered a hit to his left thumb off Starc’s bouncer.
The duo was sent for scans as the Indian team took the field for the Australian second innings. While Pant’s report came out safe and was allowed to bat in the Indian innings, Jadeja’s report wasn’t positive as it was declared that he had dislocated his thumb and ruled out for the rest of the series. He has been ruled out for almost 4-6 weeks which means he might be missing the first half of the England tour. Now the reports suggest that Jadeja might come out to bat in the second innings if needed by the team.
India lost 2 crucial wickets on the fourth day as Pujara and Rahane remained not out at stumps. With Rishabh not fully fit to bat, only Vihari remains the known batsman of the side. Hence Jadeja might come out to bat if the team could benefit from it. India needs to either bat out the entire day to draw or chase 309 runs in order to win.
