The victory in the second test against Australia was a moral booster for the Indian team as they were playing without most of their impactful players.
The victory was followed by a big blow to the Indian team as Umesh Yadav, who was the most experienced pacer in the squad has now been ruled out for the remainder of the series following a calf injury.
Yadav complained about pain in his legs during the second innings of Australia. He couldn’t even complete his over as he went out midway through the over. Later that day, BCCI official confirmed that Yadav had been sent to scans during the lunch break.
Now it is confirmed that Umesh Yadav has been ruled out for the remainder of the series. India will now be missing services of Ishant, Shami and now Umesh in this series as they are levelled by 1-1.
Shardul Thakur, who was asked to stay back after the limited overs tour has been added to squad in place of Umesh. T. Natarajan who impressed everyone in the limited over against the Australian side has also been added in place of Shami.
The third test will be played from 7th January in Sydney. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma has joined the squad in Melbourne as he will be available for the third test.
