The Australian innings was wrapped up on 200 as the Indian bowlers picked 4 wickets in the first session of Day 4. India will now need to chase 70 to win this test match as they will be eyeing to level the series 1-1.
Pat Cummins and Cameron Green came in to bat on Day 4 as they provided some resistance from the Aussie side. Australia lost 6 wickets yesterday on the score of 99 as the Indians were looking pretty dominant in the game. Green and Cummins played every Indian bowler well as they didn’t try much and just survived the final session yesterday.
The first 14 over in this session were pretty normal. The ball was old and wasn’t doing much to help the bowlers. Indian captain Rahane was smart enough to just quickly go for the new ball as soon as it was available. The new ball worked in India’s favor as they got the key wicket of Cummins courtesy of Bumrah’s surprise bouncer. Cummins played a decent knock of 22 off 103 deliveries. The partnership between Green and Cummins was frustrating the Indian bowlers as they were looking for quick wickets.
Green along with Starc was still playing the bowlers well and it was pretty evident that India was desperate for his wicket. Siraj was having a good match and was awarded for his consistency as he picked Green on a short ball. Jadeja at mid-wicket caught him and ended his resilient knock of 45 off 146 deliveries.
Green was the best batsman on the Australian side as he was the top scorer for his side. The Australian tail provided few handy runs as the bottom three added 27 runs to the scorecard.
For India, the top performer of the Day was Siraj as he picked two crucial wickets out of 4 in the entire session.
India will now need to chase 70 to win this match. India will be eyeing to win this match and level the series 1-1 after the horror in Adelaide.
