The second ODI between India and Australia was won by Australia as they take the lead of 2-0 in three match series. Kohli’s bad luck with the toss continued as the hosts won the toss again and put India to field first. The Australian openers proved the decision right as the openers put up another 100 run partnership in the series for two times now.
India got their first breakthrough in the 23rd over in the form of Finch as the Aussie captain got out on well made 60. Shami was the bowler who got the Indian side their first wicket. Warner was looking good as he was striking the ball well and Indian bowlers looked clueless while bowling to him as he wasn’t giving any opportunity to them.
But Shreyas Iyer’s bullet throw to the non striker’s end made sure that David Warner didn’t get to three figure mark. Warner was out after scoring 83 off 77 deliveries. After Warner’s wicket it was all Smith- Labuschagne show as the duo put up a 136 runs stand for 4th wicket. Smith ended his innings on 104 while Labuschagne made a decent 70. Maxwell came in when the team was in a comfortable position and played a quick fire 63 off just 29 deliveries.
For India there wasn’t much to be noticed but Hardik Pandya came in and took crucial wicket of Smith when the team needed it. Saini was the costliest as he gave 70 runs in his 7 overs. Bumrah went for runs as well as he gave 79 runs in his 10 over quota getiing only 1 wicket.
Indian batsmen were looking good in the chase but weren’t keeping their wickets. Mayank and Shikhar started well as they put up a 50 run partnership. But soon both of them lost their concentration as they got out quickly. Mayank scored 28 while Shikhar scored 30. Kohli and Iyer were in the middle after after losing two wickets. Both of them tried to build a partnership but Iyer lost his concentration in the middle and threw his wicket away when the team’s total was 153. He made 38 runs off 36 deliveries.
KL Rahul joined the captain as Virat scored another fifty. Kohli and Rahul tried to get the team home but Kohli fell to Hazelwood’s short delivery and got out at a score of 89. Rahul played a handy knock of 76 off 66 deliveries but couldn’t get close to the target. Pandya and Jadeja played some quick knocks but to no use as the team lost by 51 runs.
