In their forthcoming Asia Cup 2022 match, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will engage in grappling. On September 1, there will be an SL vs. BAN game (Thursday) for the league stage.
The game will take place in the UAE at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. In the 2022 Asia Cup, Dasun Shanaka will serve as Sri Lanka’s captain. Bangladesh’s captain is Shakib Al Hasan. Both teams are in the tournament’s group B. Afghanistan is included in the same group.
Afghanistan defeated Sri Lanka in their opening match of the 2022 Asia Cup. When Sri Lanka chose to bat first, they were dealt a severe blow when pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi dismissed two wickets in the first over: Kusal Mendis (2) and Charith Asalanka (0). Later, Sri Lanka reached 105-10 thanks to Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s 38 and Chamika Karunaratne’s 31 runs. Afghanistan had an easy job in the pursuit. Hazratullah Zazai hit an unbeaten 37 and Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 40 runs as their openers put up an 83-run opening stand. Afghanistan took 10.1 overs to reach the objective. Due to his three wickets throughout the game, Farooqi was named man of the match.
Bangladesh too lost to the dominance Afghanistan who were officially qualified after defeating the Bangladeshi tigers, followed by Sri Lanka win.
Having restricted Bangladeshi for 127 runs, thanks to the spinners, Afghanistan managed to chase the innings in the nail-biting finish. Shakib’s tigers made a possible comeback after getting smashed in the initial overs but the Zadran duo of Najibullah and Ibrahim scored some unbelievable runs which made a possible qualifying situation for team Afghanistan. They won the game by 7 wickets.
Today’s game of Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka is definitely the game a “practical knockout” because whoever wins tonight, will jump into the Super 4, joining Afghanistan to seal the group B qualifications.
