In an enthralling encounter at Lord’s on the second day of the Ashes 2nd Test, Josh Tongue produced a brilliant delivery to dismiss the formidable Steve Smith.
Tongue had previously dismissed Smith in a county game, and now he repeated the feat on a bigger stage. It was a full delivery that tempted Smith to go for a drive, but he could only manage an outside edge.
The ball flew to the left of Ben Duckett at gully, who exhibited excellent reflexes to take a low catch. The crowd erupted in thunderous applause as Smith made his way back to the dressing room.
Smith had played a remarkable innings, scoring 110 runs off 184 balls, including 15 boundaries. Tongue’s wicket was a significant breakthrough for England, enhancing their chances of gaining control in the match.
