In a gripping moment during the match, England’s Stuart Broad managed to break through and claim the wicket of the persistent nightwatchman, Boland. It was a nagging and frustrating knock, but Broad’s well-executed delivery proved too tempting for Boland to resist.
With a slight bluff, Broad delivered a full and wide ball, luring Boland into driving at it. Falling into the trap, Boland went for the shot, only to see the ball swing away at the last moment. The edge was caught by the alert wicketkeeper, Bairstow, who completed the dismissal.
Although Boland’s innings came to an end at 20 runs off 40 deliveries, including two boundaries, he had accomplished his task as the nightwatchman. His determined effort had seen him withstand the opposition’s bowling attack for a considerable period.
