The second day of the Ashes 2nd Test at Lord’s saw England continue their resurgence as James Anderson claimed his first wicket, dismissing Mitchell Starc. Anderson’s delivery was on a good length, seaming away with the angle, and Starc’s foot was firmly planted at the crease as he attempted an expansive drive.
The ball moved just enough to catch the outside edge of Starc’s bat, resulting in a straightforward catch for wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow. Bairstow displayed excellent reflexes, diving to his left and grabbing the ball in front of captain Joe Root at first slip.
This wicket marked Anderson’s first success on the second morning of the Test match. Starc contributed a quickfire 6 runs off 10 deliveries, including a boundary, before falling victim to Anderson’s well-executed delivery.
