The Antigua and Barbuda Falcons were officially unveiled on Tuesday (February 20) as the newest addition to the Caribbean Premier League, stepping in to replace the Jamaica Tallawahs, which ceased to exist post the 2023 season. The launch event for the Falcons franchise took place at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, which will serve as the team’s home ground for the upcoming CPL 2024 season.
The Jamaica franchise, formerly owned by Florida-based businessman Kris Persaud, will now be under the ownership of his Worldwide Sports Management Group as the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons. Kris Persaud expressed enthusiasm for the new venture, stating, “We are brand new; we are here, we are ready… let’s get ready to play! The Antigua & Barbuda Falcons will bring a unique energy and vitality to the CPL.”
Persaud emphasized the importance of establishing a culture of winning both on and off the field, expressing gratitude to the Government of Antigua & Barbuda for their support in bringing the Falcons to life. The CPL 2024 season is set to run from August 28 to October 6, with games taking place in Antigua for the first time in a decade. The final will be held at The National Stadium in Providence, Guyana.
