Allrounder David Wiese devastates Islamabad’s PSL final hopes

David Wiese helped Lahore Qalandars in the eliminator to secure a place in the final of PSL

Every T20 game has a player who raises the game’s difficulty level in order to take the game from the opposition, and David Wiese of the Lahore Qalandars was such player in the Pakistan Super League(PSL) Eliminator.

David Wiese starred in the final overs of each of the two innings of the Eliminator 2 against Islamabad United in front of a sold-out Gaddafi Stadium crowd on Friday night, leading Lahore Qalandars to a six-run victory and a spot in the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2022) final against defending champions Multan Sultans on Sunday.

Wiese was on the strike from the first ball of the last over, batting against Waqas Maqsood, who had been having a solid game up until that point. The Namibian smashed three sixes, two fours, and two twos in the last over to help Qalandars to a score of 168/7. With 28 in only eight balls, Wiese stayed unblemished.

The PSL eliminator came out to be a highly tight run chase, with Islamabad needing just eight runs in the 20th over despite being eight wickets behind. His final over blitz with the bat proved to be very significant when protecting the target. The task of defending was assigned to David Wiese.
