Ajinkya Rahane, Pujara, and Hardik Pandya are all set to be demoted in central contract of BCCI

Test specialists Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Wriddhiman Saha, and Ishant Sharma along with Hardik Pandya have also been demoted in the BCCI Annual Contract

The BCCI is all set to announce its central contracts list for the 2022-23 season with bad news for some senior players. Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane have dropped from the team ahead of the two-Test series against Sri Lanka. After which bad news has come for them once again. Test specialists Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Wriddhiman Saha, and Ishant Sharma along with Hardik Pandya have also been demoted in the BCCI Annual Contract and they have been shifted from Grade A to Grade C.

Grades in BCCI’s annual contract are divided into A+, A, B, and C, with Grade A+ paying the highest of Rs 7 crores in Grades A, B, and C at Rs 5 Crores, Rs 3, and Rs 1 crore respectively.

Hardik Pandya has been out of the team for some time due to fitness due to which he has been shifted from Grade A to Grade C. Along with these players, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umesh Yadav have also been demoted in the annual contract. Both Umesh Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have been moved to Grade C.

While bad news has come for some players, some players like Axar Patel and Mohammad Siraj, and Shreyas Iyer have also got promotions. All three players have been included in the upgraded Grade B contract. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah have managed to make their place in Grade A+. Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, and R Ashwin have also retained their places in Grade A.

Grade A+: Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah.
Grade A: Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami and Rishabh Pant.
Grade B: Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Shreyas Iyer, Mohammed Siraj and Ishant Sharma.
Grade C: Shikhar Dhawan, Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya, Washington Sundar, Shubman Gill, Hanuma Vihari, Yuzvendra Chahal, Suryakumar Yadav, Wriddhiman Saha, Mayank Agarwal and Deepak Chahar.
