Afghanistan’s promising leg-spinner, Noor Ahmad, has been handed a 12-month ban by ILT20’s disciplinary committee for breaching his contract with franchise Sharjah Warriors. Noor becomes the second player from Afghanistan, following Naveen-ul-Haq, to face a ban from ILT20 for similar reasons.
Despite being retained by the Warriors, the 19-year-old chose not to sign the retention notice and instead participated in the SA20 tournament, representing Durban Supergiants. Noor’s refusal to sign the player agreement contract prompted the Warriors to seek intervention from the ILT20 for resolution.
After conducting separate hearings for both the player and the franchise, the disciplinary committee reached a final decision. Initially, Noor was handed a 20-month ban, akin to Naveen-ul-Haq’s sanction. However, considering Noor’s status as a minor ahead of the first ILT20 season, the punishment was reduced to a 12-month suspension.
