
Afghanistan’s cricket team has announced the inclusion of promising all-rounder Abdul Rahman for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, set to commence on June 2.
Rahman, a 21-year-old right-arm medium-fast bowler, has earned his place in the squad due to his impressive performances in the Green Afghanistan One-Day Cup. Representing the Hindukush Strikers, Rahman showcased his skills by scoring two half-centuries and claiming seven wickets in his last five List A matches.

Led by Hashmatullah Shahidi, the 15-man squad also features a strong spin contingent, including renowned players like Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Noor Ahmad.
These spinners will be aiming to fine-tune their skills in the 50-over format ahead of the World Cup in India. Afghanistan has already qualified directly for the World Cup, while Sri Lanka will have to go through the qualification round.
The squad for the ODI series includes Hashmatullah Shahidi as captain, with Rahmat Shah serving as vice-captain. Other notable players in the lineup are Rahmanullah Gurbaz as the wicketkeeper, Ibrahim Zadran, Riaz Hassan, Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Nabi, Ikram Alikhail as an additional wicketkeeper, Azmatullah Omarzai, Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Noor Ahmad, Abdul Rahman, Fazal Haq Farooqi, and Farid Ahmad Malik.
Furthermore, the team has also named reserves, including Gulbadain Naib, Shahidullah Kamal, Yamin Ahmadzai, and Zia ur Rahman Akbar. All three ODIs between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan are scheduled to take place in Hambantota.
