With outstanding bowling and strong batting, Bangla Tigers outplayed the defending champions Maratha Arabians by six wickets in the seventh match of the Abu Dhabi T10 League at Abu Dhabi Zayed Cricket Stadium.
Arabians did not lose a single wicket to score 103 runs in 10 overs with Mohammed Hafeez scoring an unbeaten 61 off 30 balls and an unbeaten 34 runs by Abdul Shakoor.
On the other hand, Tigers while chasing the target lost wickets in frequent intervals but scored at a fast pace and won the game with 12 balls to spare.
Tigers won the toss and opted to field, with Mujeeb Ur Rehman and Qais Ahmed bowling two consecutive tight overs. While the Arabians’ opening partnership looked stable, runs were hard to get for both the batsmen.
Hafeez reached his half-century in the ninth over and the 100-run partnership between the two openers followed in the tenth over.
The openers of Tigers, Johnson Charles and Andre Fletcher started by scoring seven runs in the first over. After whacking Muktar Ali for a four and a six, Charles edged the ball to the keeper, while Fletcher fell to Sohag Gazi.
The Tigers needed only 13 runs from the last three overs, but Afif got out for 22 and Suri was run out for 19. Finally, Tom Moores hit the winning boundary off the last ball of the eight over.
