When it comes to the total number of medals, the Indian contingent has experienced some sluggish but significant increases. They are consistently putting on a performance that raises their standing on the medal count.
At the current Commonwealth Games, India’s third day was nothing short of spectacular. India won three gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze medal. It is interesting to note that India won all three gold medals in the weightlifting division. Following the achievements of golden girl Mirabai Chanu, India’s 19-year-old Jeremy Lalrinnunga took home a gold medal. Two gold medals were won by young weightlifters Lalrinnunga and Achinta Sheuli in the men’s 67kg and men’s 73kg categories, respectively.
India will compete in three medal events on Day 4: two in para-swimming and two in weightlifting. The men’s table tennis team will also be vying for a spot in the championship match. Amit Phangal will compete in a Round of 16 match in the Flyweight division, while Joshna Chinappa will compete in a women’s singles quarterfinal match.
