Colts star ranked among elite NFL running backs

Indianapolis Colts star running back Jonathan Taylor is poised for a standout season in 2024. After a tumultuous 2023 marked by contract disputes and injuries, which limited him to just 10 games, Taylor is ready to put the past behind him. The Colts, along with many NFL observers, are excited to see what he can achieve alongside quarterback Anthony Richardson.

Garrett Podell of CBS Sports has high expectations for Taylor, ranking him fourth among NFL running backs. “With a healthier Anthony Richardson and going through Indy’s entire offseason program, Taylor should be back among the NFL’s best in 2024,” wrote Podell.

The pairing of Richardson and Taylor in the backfield promises to be a formidable combination. While Richardson’s presence might reduce Taylor’s overall workload, the increased efficiency they can achieve together should compensate for any drop in volume.

Despite his limited play last season, Taylor still managed to rack up impressive stats: 169 carries for 741 rushing yards and seven touchdowns, along with 19 receptions for 153 yards and one receiving touchdown. Notably, he scored at least one touchdown in seven of his final eight games.

Now three years removed from his stellar 2021 season, when he led the NFL in rushing yards, Taylor is set to reclaim his position among the league’s elite. A full season alongside Richardson could see him approaching those remarkable numbers once again.
