Next third seed Sindhu will face fourth seed Putri Kusuma Wardani.

Yesterday, PV Sindhu, the defending champion, defeated Jenjira Stadelmann in an easy match. It took her just 32 minutes to record her first victory of the year by beating Stadelmann 21-9, 21-16 in just 32 minutes.

She failed to advance past the opening round of the last three tournaments where Sindhu competed, so she entered the contest. On Wednesday, she was hoping to end her streak.

In the interval, the ace shuttler took a 6-4 lead and walked into the match with a five-point advantage. Sindhu scored four straight points after the break to make it 15-6, putting her in control of the game. After that, the CWG Champion gave up only three points and won the first game 21-9.

In the second game, wildcard Stadelmann made an excellent start. It was a delight for the fans to see the Swiss shuttler race to a 6-2 lead in the second game. It was Sindhu, however, who was determined not to let the game slip away and made a solid comeback to defeat Stadelmann 21-16 and advance to the next round. During the second round, Sindhu will face Indonesian Putri Kusuma Wardani, the fourth seed.

Kidambi Srikkanth, HS Prannoy, Mithun Manjunath, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty reached the tournament’s second round. In a 21-16, 15-21, 21-18 victory, Srikkanth defeated Weng Hong Yang.
