World Champion Nikhat Zareen’s win in the quarterfinals confirmed her as a contingent in the Paris 2024 Olympic Quota. Zareen defeated her Jordanian challenger, Hanan Nassar, in the 45–50 kg category in Hangzhou, China, on Friday. Nassar was completely dominant in the match, where the referee had to stop the first bout with more than 50 seconds left on the clock.
This win is a huge accomplishment for Zareen as well as a proud moment for India, as she has secured her place in the 2024 Olympics, which will take place in Paris, Italy. We all hope that Zareen brings a gold at the Asian Games too, but nonetheless, she is getting a bronze for sure.
All the semifinalists in Zareen’s category will get a spot in the Paris 2024 Quotas.
