On Friday, British media revealed that the tennis legend Andy Murray has moved apart from his long term coach Jamie Delgado. Former British Davis Cup player will now be looking forward to directing the 22-year old Denis Shapovalov of Canada.
Three-times Grand Slam champion Murray has been trained under Delgado since the year 2016, who assisted the player to win his second Grand Slam title at Wimbledon. He also ended up achieving the World Number One position the same calendar year. Delgado then became the main coach replacing Ivan Lendi in the year 2017.
Murray has been very unlucky with his health. The twice Wimbledon champion has been suffering from numerous hip injuries that don’t allow the player to stand on himself for long. He has had two surgeries before he returned to the ATP tour and slipped down to the 134th position in the world.
Next week, the British legend will be giving a trial to Jan De Witt of Germany in an exhibition tournament in Abu Dhabi while he practices for another Grand Slam, Australian Open. The exhibition event will also be joined by Emma Raducanu, the 19-year-old British tennis sensation who won this year’s US Open championship. Raducanu is assisting Murray in his rehearsals for the upcoming season.
