American professional Golf player Tiger Woods on Tuesday, February 23 was driving in Los Angeles when his SUV crashed into the divider and fell several meters away on a slope nearby. He is said to have taken heavy leg injuries and was taken into surgery, but his condition is not life-threatening, officials have said.
Emergency workers had rushed to the scene and the golfer was taken to the closest trauma center, Harbor-U.C.L.A. Medical Center. According to Deputy Carlos Gonzalez, the first officer on the scene, Woods had broken both his legs but appeared to be completely conscious of his surroundings and was not in a panicked state.
The patch of the road where Woods car crashed, Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., has a history of accidents because since it’s a difficult piece of road for drivers with steep and winding terrain.
Although it is not clear what exactly was the cause of the crash, a resident of Rancho Palos Verdes said that is a complicated stretch of the road and, “if you get distracted, you can start going fast. It’s steep going up and coming down and you can’t see around the bend. You see and hear about a lot of accidents,” the New York Times reported.
