All England Open 2021: PV Sindhu Crushes Malaysia’s Soniia Cheah in Just 2 Rounds, Cruises Onto To The Next Round

Overcoming the first-round challenge in just 39 minutes, Sindhu won the clash 21-11, 21-17. The world 7th ranker once again proven her capabilities, as she came out all guns blazing and attacked her opponent. Sindhu did not give any chance to her opponent to take the lead and claimed an easy victory in the first game.

While the Malaysian tried to make a comeback in the second game, Sindhu did not intend to take the match to the third game and maintained her lead despite a phenomenal comeback from Cheah.

Earlier, the Indian men’s doubles pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy  also sailed through to the second round. With just a 19 minutes play the Indian duo defeated the inexperienced pair of England.  India’s Nikhar Garg and  Aniruddha Mayekar  won the game by 21-7, 21-10.

A similar result was seen in the women’s doubles pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy, as they too cruised to the next round beating Thailand’s Benyapa Aimsaard and Nuntakarn Aimsaard in straight games 21-14, 21-12 in just 30 minutes.

However, Indian shuttlers Kidambi Srikanth and Parupalli Kashyap bowed out of the competition after losing their first-round matches. While Srikanth was defeated by Ireland’s Nhat Nguyen by 21-11, 15-21, 21-12, World number one Kento Momota defeated Kashyap 21-13, 22-20.
