Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), through its wholly owned subsidiary Reliance Strategic Business Ventures Limited, has officially partnered with Surrey County Cricket Club to take joint ownership of the Oval Invincibles franchise in The Hundred.
According to the media release, the new agreement transfers ownership from the England and Wales Cricket Board and allocates 49% stake to Reliance and 51% to Surrey. Starting from the 2026 season, both the men’s and women’s Oval Invincibles teams will be rebranded as MI London, extending the global Mumbai Indians (#OneFamily) franchise footprint.
The Oval Invincibles are the most successful franchise in The Hundred’s history, winning five titles in five years, with the women’s team securing the first two and the men’s team lifting three back-to-back trophies between 2023 and 2025. The franchise has been built on Surrey stars such as Sam Curran, Tom Curran, Will Jacks, and Alice Capsey, along with global icons like Rashid Khan, Marizanne Kapp, and Adam Zampa.
Mumbai Indians now own seven teams across five countries, making this their newest expansion after IPL, WPL, SA20, Major League Cricket, ILT20, and others. With 13 combined titles globally, MI is already the most successful T20 franchise group worldwide.
Nita M. Ambani, speaking on the partnership, said MI London will strengthen MI’s global vision, help nurture young talent, and connect cricket communities across continents. Akash Ambani added that the Invincibles’ winning culture aligns strongly with the MI ethos of passion and excellence.
Surrey Chair Oli Slipper emphasized that the MI London brand will help expand the fanbase and increase the franchise’s commercial value while supporting the long-term growth of cricket in Surrey.
The partnership also highlights the Kia Oval’s legacy as one of world cricket’s most historic venues — a ground that has hosted over 100 men’s Tests and more women’s Tests than any other major stadium.
