Ruturaj Gaikwad’s maiden ODI century in Raipur has entered the record books. His blistering ton, reached in 77 balls, is now the second-fastest ODI hundred by an Indian against South Africa.

The only Indian who has ever reached the milestone quicker is Yusuf Pathan, who smashed a 68-ball hundred in Centurion back in 2011.

Gaikwad, who accelerated superbly after reaching fifty, tore into the South African attack during the middle overs, dominating both pace and spin in a landmark innings for the opener.
