The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is expected to kick off on February 7 and conclude with the final on March 8, with Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium hosting both the tournament opener and the final, according to Devendra Pandey of Express Sports. The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai has been shortlisted to host one of the semi-finals, marking another major event for two of India’s most iconic venues.

In case of an India vs Pakistan semi-final, both teams will face off in Colombo, while the second semi-final will take place in Mumbai. The tournament will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, with matches spread across seven venues.

For the Indian leg, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad are likely to be confirmed host cities. Meanwhile, in Sri Lanka, matches are expected to be played at Premadasa Stadium (Colombo), Pallekele, and either Dambulla or Hambantota.

There is still no clarity on warm-up matches, though Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium or the BCCI Centre of Excellence are being considered. However, the city’s hosting ability remains uncertain due to a lack of safety clearance following the RCB victory stampede incident earlier this year.

It has also been reported that the Indian team will play across Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Chennai, ensuring widespread fan engagement across the country.

In a recent meeting, the BCCI decided that the tournament will feature fewer cities than the 2023 ODI World Cup, but each venue will host at least six matches to streamline logistics and improve fan experience.

With the ICC expected to announce the official schedule soon, the anticipation for the T20 World Cup 2026 — co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka — is already building, especially as the world awaits another potential India-Pakistan clash on neutral soil.
