The final T20I between India and Australia at The Gabba, Brisbane, was called off due to persistent rain, resulting in no result on Saturday. India, however, sealed the five-match series 2-1 after dominating throughout the tour, and two matches being washed out due to rain.

At the time play was stopped, India were cruising at 52/0 in 4.5 overs, with Shubman Gill (29 off 16) and Abhishek Sharma (23 off 13) going strong. Despite intermittent rain stoppages, the match officials had to abandon play around 8:37 pm local time (4:07 pm IST) after multiple inspections showed no improvement in conditions.

Earlier, a lightning protocol was triggered when severe weather warnings were issued around the Gabba, forcing players and spectators to move indoors for safety. The rain subsided briefly around 7:40 pm local time (3:10 pm IST), but returned soon after, ending any hopes of resumption.

With this result, Suryakumar Yadav’s men completed another impressive bilateral series win under his leadership.

Suryakumar Yadav’s record as India’s T20I captain:

  • Beat Australia 4-1
  • Drew South Africa 1-1
  • Beat Sri Lanka 3-0
  • Beat Bangladesh 3-0
  • Beat South Africa 3-1
  • Beat England 4-1
  • Won the Asia Cup
  • Beat Australia 2-1

Under Suryakumar’s captaincy, India have been dominant in the shortest format, establishing him as one of the most successful leaders in recent T20I history.
