Noor Ahmad Reaches 50 Wickets as CSK Tighten Grip
Noor Ahmad became the fifth fastest spinner to reach 50 IPL wickets, getting there in 42 matches, as Chennai Super Kings took control at Chepauk with quick strikes in the middle overs.
The landmark wicket came with the dismissal of Ajinkya Rahane, who miscued a lofted shot to extra cover. It was a simple catch for Ruturaj Gaikwad, but it marked a key moment in the game. Noor followed it up immediately with another blow, bowling Cameron Green with a quicker delivery from around the wicket that skidded through and hit the stumps.
Two wickets in two balls shifted the momentum sharply. Rahane had started to settle, while Green fell first ball, continuing a poor run with the bat this season.
KKR Struggle in Chase Under Pressure
Noor’s spell once again showed control and variation, something CSK have relied on despite conditions offering less turn this year. His figures kept the scoring in check while also breaking the middle order at a crucial stage.
Only Sunil Narine, Imran Tahir, Amit Mishra and Yuzvendra Chahal have reached the milestone quicker among spinners.
With back-to-back wickets and the crowd fully behind them, CSK moved into a strong position, leaving KKR needing a recovery from the lower order. At 90 for 6 in 12.5 overs, chasing 192, Kolkata Knight Riders now need 103 runs in 43 balls.
