Oscar Piastri cut a frustrated figure after finishing P2 in the Qatar Grand Prix, a race he looked poised to win before strategic missteps cost him track position. The Australian had led early, showed strong pace, and even pulled off brilliant moves on track — but ultimately watched the victory slip away.

Piastri: “It’s tough to swallow”

Reacting after the race, Piastri said:

“Clearly we didn’t get it right tonight, I drove the best race I could and there was nothing left out there. In hindsight it’s pretty obvious what we should have done, but we’ll discuss it as a team. It’s not all bad in the championship but obviously tough to swallow at the moment.”

Despite the disappointment, Piastri leaves Qatar still firmly in the title fight. The McLaren driver sits third in the standings, just 16 points behind leader Lando Norris, heading into the Abu Dhabi finale.

With the championship still within reach, Piastri will need a perfect weekend in Yas Marina — and hope for the title battle to swing his way.
