The McLaren F1 Team have officially clinched their second consecutive Constructors’ Championship, marking a historic back-to-back triumph after dominating the 2025 Formula 1 season. The team’s strong double finish — Lando Norris in third and Oscar Piastri in fourth — at the Singapore Grand Prix was enough to mathematically seal the title with seven races still remaining.

The road to the title

McLaren’s 2025 dominance has been nothing short of remarkable. Heading into Singapore, the team already held a massive 333-point lead over Mercedes in the standings, with Ferrari and Red Bull further adrift. Despite a rare off weekend in Azerbaijan two weeks ago — their worst of the season — McLaren arrived at Marina Bay knowing they needed just 13 points to secure the championship.

That small target was comfortably achieved as both Norris and Piastri finished in the top four, putting the title beyond reach for their rivals. Even before lights out, the mathematics were clear — McLaren’s consistency and 12 wins from 17 races made their grip on the championship nearly unshakable.

How the battle shaped up before Singapore

At the start of the weekend, the Constructors’ standings looked like this:

  1. McLaren – 623 points

  2. Mercedes – 290 points

  3. Ferrari – 286 points

  4. Red Bull – 272 points

With just seven rounds left (three of which included sprint races), a total of 346 points remained up for grabs. For Mercedes or Ferrari to keep the fight alive, they needed to outscore McLaren by over 30 points in Singapore — a near-impossible task given the MCL39’s pace advantage.

Even if Mercedes had secured a 1-2 finish, McLaren would only have needed both cars to finish inside the top 10 to close the championship early. Ultimately, Norris and Piastri’s podium push removed all doubt, ending the chase and confirming McLaren’s place as the undisputed benchmark of 2025.

A new golden era for Woking

This victory marks McLaren’s first back-to-back Constructors’ titles since the late 1980s, when legends Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost dominated the grid. Under Team Principal Andrea Stella, the team has built a culture of precision, data-driven excellence, and mutual trust between its two star drivers.

Speaking after the race, Lando Norris said, “To do it again — back-to-back — it’s incredible. Everyone in Woking deserves this. We’ve worked non-stop to keep pushing the limits, and it’s paid off.”

Oscar Piastri, who continues to impress in just his second full F1 season, added, “We’ve shown that teamwork and consistency win championships. This car, this crew — they’ve made history.”

The final result at Singapore

  1. George Russell (Mercedes) – Winner

  2. Max Verstappen (Red Bull) – P2

  3. Lando Norris (McLaren) – P3

  4. Oscar Piastri (McLaren) – P4

Despite Russell taking the race win for Mercedes, McLaren’s consistent performance ensured they took home the bigger prize — the 2025 Constructors’ Championship.

With both the drivers and constructors’ battles nearing their conclusion, McLaren’s dominance this year has redefined modern Formula 1 excellence — proving once again that the papaya orange is the color of champions.
