Bharti Airtel enters $1 billion market of cloud communication

Bharti Airtel becomes the first telecom operator to enter the $1 billion market of cloud communication with the launch of a cloud-based omnichannel communications platform named Airtel IQ.

Bharti Airtel becomes the first telecom operator to enter the $1 billion market of cloud communication with the launch of a cloud-based omnichannel communications platform named Airtel IQ that aims to enable brands to deepen engagement with customers through timely and secure communication, a company statement said, terming the move as a “game-changer” for the fast-evolving Indian enterprise communication segment.

Ajay Chitkara, director of Airtel Business made a statement saying: “We are the first and only telco to enter this market with scale. We are the only omnichannel communication platform that can solve problems at scale.”Nair said that the product is natively integrated into telco-grade infrastructure and allows companies to save a 30-40% reduction in their cost structure.

The telco said that Airtel IQ enables brands to deepen engagement with customers through timely and secure communication. Airtel IQ, the company said, eliminates the need for multiple communication platforms for different channels. Businesses can embed communication services such as Voice, SMS, IVR in their applications, and digital properties across desktop and mobile, all through a unified platform.

Bharti Airtel’s Chief Product and Experience Officer Adarsh Nair said that “A telco sits on telecom grade networks and has an enormous distribution network along with data and analytics. Any product that has a strong adjacency to the telco or any business which sits at the intersection is the fair business for Airtel to enter.”
