Airtel & TCS jointly test 5G driven Remote Operations & AI

The companies partner under the initiative #5GforBusiness.

Bharti Airtel Limited (Airtel), India’s premier global communications provider has partnered with Tata Consultancy Solutions, a consulting and business solutions company under the initiative #5GforBusiness.

The companies have announced to demonstrate 5G based Remote Robotics Operations and Artificial Intelligence-driven Quality Inspection for Factories of the future. The objective of the collaborations is to test 5G based networks from TCS’ Neural Manufacturing suite of solutions. Apparently, the solutions will help the manufacturers to build smart factories with adaptive behaviours. Furthermore, it will be driven by remote robotic operations and Artificial Intelligence that will operate in potentially hazardous environments like Mining, Chemical plants and Oil and Gas fields to safeguard human labour from hazardous working conditions.


The project works on ultra-reliable low latency communication, enhanced bandwidth and a high density 5G network.

As of now, TCS successfully tested two use cases on Airtel’s 5G testbed – remote robotics operations, and vision-based quality inspection, showcasing how TCS’ Neural Manufacturing solutions and 5G technology can transform industrial operations by boosting quality, efficiency and safety. The demonstration was done at Airtel’s 5G Lab in Manesar (Gurgaon).
