On October 28, Union Minister Smriti Irani declared testing positive for COVID-19 and immediately requested her recent contacts to get tested.

She took to Twitter to inform, “It is rare for me to search for words while making an announcement; hence here’s me keeping it simple – I’ve tested positive for #COVID and would request those who came in contact with me to get themselves tested at the earliest.”

Hearing the news, Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal tweeted to wish the Union Minister a speedy recovery. He wrote, “You have always displayed resolute determination in fighting for the people of the nation.”

Union Minister Smriti Irani is the latest politician to join the list of politicians who have tested positive for the novel Coronavirus. Earlier, Home minister Amit Shah, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, and late ex-president Pranab Mukherjee tested positive for the virus as well.
