The news came just two days after Pak PM Imran Khan took the first dose of Chinese COVID-19 vaccine Sinopharm on Thursday, March 18.

As the question rises on the working of Chinese COVID-19 vaccine, the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination of Pakistan has made a clarification that the Chinese vaccine has two doses and it takes around 2-3 weeks to develop anti-bodies. The official Twitter handle of the ministry tweeted, “Prime Minister Imran Khan was not fully vaccinated when he contracted the virus. He only got the 1st dose and merely 2 days ago which is too soon for ANY vaccine to become effective. Anti-bodies develop 2-3 weeks after 2nd dose of 2-dose COVID vaccines. #VaccinesWork”.

Earlier, ANI reported that China had donated 500,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccines to Pakistan, that helped the country to start its vaccine drive. Besides Sinopharm, Pakistan has also approved Russia’s Sputnik, China’s CanSinoBIO and Oxford’s AstraZeneca vaccines for emergency use.
