
The government of Maharashtra has issued a circular to the general manager of Central and Western Railways, and the commissioner of Railway police, in regards to the recommencement of local train service.
The circular stated, “With regard to the above-mentioned subject, the state is looking to open up the local train services to the general public while ensuring adherence to the following of all COVID-19 protocols.”
As per the circular, any person with a valid ticket or pass can board the first local till 7.30 am, 11.00 am to 4.30 am, and 8.00 pm to last local.
In the second category, the essential service employees with a valid QR code/card and ticket/pass can board trains from 8.00 am till 10.30 am, and 5.00 PM to 7.30 PM.
Ladies will enjoy the service of special trains every hour.
The circular states, “proposed time schedule would require increasing the frequency of local trains to adhere to the demand of proposed commuters.”
The proposal is yet to pass and the Maharashtra government is waiting for the Railways official’s input.
