Maharashtra and Kerala reports to be the slowest while recovering from the second wave of COVID-19

The two states that were caught by the second wave of the pandemic massively in India are Kerala and Maharashtra. These two states report being the slowest while recovering from the second wave of COVID 19, as notified by The Times of India. In the past week, the fresh cases recorded in India declined by 11 percent, while on contrary Kerala recorded an increase of 7 percent and Maharashtra registered a decrease of 4 percent.

Altogether, the two states alone constituted around 48 percent of the fresh cases reported in a week. In the country, around 3 lakh cases were reported in the past seven days. Kerala has recorded 84,791 infections in the previous weeks from 79,500 cases in the week prior to the previous week. Maharashtra reported 61,283 cases in the last week from 64,113 cases and 63,789 cases in the weeks prior to the past week.

As per The Times of India report, the COVID 19 virus continued to hit in the parts of the northeast, with the state of Sikkim registering a 63 percent rise in cases in the past week. However, the overall number of cases in the state was relatively low. In Tripura, the cases increased by around 13 percent compared to the last week. While on the other hand, Manipur too witnessed an increase of around 10 percent in the previous week.

On Monday, the country’s death toll dropped to 500 for the first time in 91 days as reported by The Times of India.
