Head of Maha Nirvani Akhara Swami Kapil Dev dies of Covid-19 in Dehradun, who was in Haridwar to take part in Kumbh Snan.

The head of Maha Nirvani Akhara Swami Kapil Dev, who was undergoing Covid-19 treatment at a private hospital in Dehradun. Swami Kapil Dev was earlier in Haridwar to take part in Kumbh Mela but got infected from Coronavirus.

Well, over 2,167 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the Maha Kumbh Mela going on in Haridwar. It is one of the gigantic religious gatherings in the world. Though, Maha Kumbh Mela started on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri on the 11th of March, 2021. Medical workers had carried on 2,36,751 Covid tests on the Mela spot out of which 1,701 turned out to be positive.

Also, around 6 lakh people reached Haridwar in order to attend the ‘Baisakhi Snan’ which is considered to be one of the most paramount ‘Snan’ among the three of them taken altogether.

Furthermore, the total period of the Maha Kumbh Mela is four months but due to the ongoing pandemic, the duration has been curtailed to one month.

In addition to this, the Inspector General (IG) of the Haridwar Kumbh Mela, Sanjay Gunjyal, has said that it’s practically impossible to follow social distancing norms in such a thronged room. There were approximately 48.51 lakh people who attended the last two ‘Shahi Snan’ held on the 12th and 14th of April respectively. Apparently, they were observed blatantly violating Covid-19 norms by not wearing masks and not following social distancing.

In Uttarakhand, the total number of cases stands at 14.1 million. Additionally, the state has reported a total number of 13,613 cases between the 1st and 14th of April, 2021.
