India records 3,962 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, 26 dead in 24 hours

India records another day of high caseload with around 3,962 cases being reported by the latest data of the Health Ministry.

COVID-19: India on Saturday, 4 May 2022 had recorded a high number of 3,962 fresh cases in the past 24 hours according to the Union Health Ministry Data. According to the Health Ministry’s data, there were 2,697 recoveries and 26 fatalities in the previous 24 hours.  The country’s total active COVID-19 cases were around 22,416 according to the latest reports received by the Ministry of Health. 

The country on Friday had recorded 4,041 cases. Which were the highest in the last three months since the third wave had hit in January. Moreover, these fatalities were around 10 on Friday.

New COVID-19 cases 

The Union Ministry of Health had sent a letter to all the states. Which are suspected to be the reason for the increase in the number of cases. The states in question are Kerala, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu. These states were asked to keep a close eye on the number of active cases. And were instructed to collect samples from the newly affected individuals for genome sequencing. 

In India, the number of COVID-19 cases had been steadily declining for the previous three months. According to Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan. He pointed out that in the last week of May there has been a slight upsurge of the cases with 15,708 cases noted. The tally had increased to 21,055 cases by 27th May.

The states have also been advised to take the five-fold strategy. Lest, for example to test- track- treat and follow all the COVID-19 protocols across the state. Thus, making the implementation of the preventive systems against the COVID-19 pandemic very essential for the prevention of another COVID-19 wave in the future.
