Prime Minister Narendra Modi happily announced, “Today India commences its vaccination drive for children between age group 12 to 14. The fight against COVID-19 is on using the Corbevax vaccine. This vaccine is scientifically proven and India has better leverage to fight the notorious pandemic, having said that, I request everyone to continue taking safety measures.”
He passionately stated that India embarks on a new journey today to vaccinate its young citizens and for its senior citizens it has a booster dose. Twitter was filled with Modi’s tweets urging people to vaccinate their children and get their seniors vaccinated with booster doses.
Modi reiterated that this vaccination drive is a scientific marvel and is the largest in the world.
He further added, “When we started developing vaccines in 2020, we aimed to reach where we are today covering every age group as much as possible. And now we have achieved it. I congratulate to all our scientists, innovation teams, and the private players who helped in our fight against the pandemic. Back in 2020 itself, my visit to 3 major vaccine manufacturers gave me the confidence that we will win the race of protecting our citizens.”
Reminding that in January 2021 the first to receive vaccination were the doctors, frontline workers and people from the healthcare sector.
“Then in March 2021, we opened the gates for the citizens aged 60 and above to be vaccinated first and people above 45 years of age with comorbidities go next, later after observation, we vaccinated our younger generation above 18 years of age,” he reminisced.
Modi happily announced that India should feel absolutely proud that these vaccines are free of cost for those who want it.
