COVID-19: India recorded 46,617 new cases in 24 hours and 853 fatalities

With 853 fresh deaths, the total number of people who have died now topped 4 lakh. Maharashtra is responsible for 1.25 lakh, whereas Karnataka is responsible for around 35,000.

In the past 24 hours leading up to 8 a.m. Friday, India registered 46,617 new COVID-19 instances, bringing the country’s total to over 3.04 crore. Active cases have decreased to over 5.09 lakh, with more than 2.95 crore persons recovering after testing positive. Kerala remains a only state who had recorded over 10,000 cases each day.

With 853 fresh deaths, the total number of people who have died now topped 4 lakh. Maharashtra is responsible for 1.25 lakh, whereas Karnataka is responsible for around 35,000. Till today, more than 32,000 people have died in Tamil Nadu.

According to PTI, nine European countries are approving Covishield vaccines for travel to other countries. According to PTI’s sources, Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, and Spain are among the nations that allow persons who have received Covishield immunizations to travel. It was stated that,  Switzerland will be going to admit Covishield as a Schengen state.

Meanwhile, Zydus Cadila, an Indian pharmaceutical company had announced on Thursday that they has filed to the country’s drug regulator for getting the permission of emergency use of its Covid-19 vaccine and expects to produce up to 120 million doses per year.

In other headlines, the country’s central drug authorities on Wednesday recommended against allowing the Serum Institute of India (SII) to begin a phase 2/3 study of the Covid-19 vaccine Covovax on children aged two to seventeen years, according to news agency PTI.
