On Monday, April 12, as the second wave hits India, the outbreak and surge in Covid-19 cases is also visible in the apex court of India, i.e., Supreme Court.
According to ANI, the Supreme Court sources have said, “Many staff members of the Supreme Court are believed to be infected with COVID-19, hence SC judges today will conduct hearings, from their respective residences.”

Second wave of uncontrolled Coronavirus continues to wreak havoc in the country. Records in the surge of COVID-19 cases are being broken everyday .
After breaking of this news, Supreme Court released a notice regarding the same. The notice quotes, “All the benches which are scheduled to sit at 10:30 am will sit at 11:30 am and those scheduled to sit at 11:00 am will sit at 12:00 noon. Notice further added that Special Bench comprising Honourable Mr. Justice Uday Umesh Lalit and Honourable Mr. Justice Ashok Bhushan constituted in court no 4 for hearing W.P. (c). 940/2017.”
Notice also states that physical mentioning of matters before the mentioning Registrar shall be suspended till further orders. However, the mentioning of matters through video conferencing mode will continue.

Administration orders to sanitise entire court premises, including courtrooms. Benches for justice will sit one hour late from scheduled time. All the justices will hold all the hearing from their homes via video conferencing.
Seeing the surge in the COVID-19 cases, restrictions have been imposed in many states of the country like night curfew, weekend lockdown and lockdown.
