50 nations show interest as CoWIN to go global today

The CoWIN global conclave shall be addressed by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday where all the nations showing their interest in the government’s digital platform shall be provided with an opportunity to adopt it. For helping people to register for vaccination against COVID-19 and booking a slot along with downloading vaccination certificates, the platform is being used in India for the same.

In adopting the digital platform, nations including Mexico, Nigeria, Uganda, Panama, and Canada have shown their interest. It is expected that various health and technology experts from several nations shall have their presence in the event which will be inaugurated by the Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan.

According to a statement by NHA posted on its website, with regards to universal vaccination to fight COVID-19 through Co-WIN, the conclave aims to share India’s experience.

The full form of CoWIN is Covid Vaccine Intelligence Work and when the vaccination drive against the disease began in the nation, it was introduced by the central government in January. The digital platform has been developed for beneficiaries along with the officials who are associated with the vaccination process.

The beneficiaries can choose a day and time slot as per their preference through the e-portal which allows them to book a vaccination slot after which they can register at the website with their phone number thereby receiving an OTP to be entered in the required field. The Aadhaar details of the beneficiary are required to be entered after which they can move forward to book their vaccinations slot.
