“5 more countries to mutually recognise India’s COVID-19 vaccine certificate,” says the Ministry of External Affairs

The announcement was made by Arindam Bagchi, Joint Secretary and official spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, through a Twitter post.

The Ministry of External Affairs announced on Monday, November 1 that India’s COVID-19 vaccination certificate has been mutually recognised by five more countries. The countries include Estonia, Kyrgyzstan, the State of Palestine, Mauritius and Mongolia. Last Month MEA had announced that Hungary and Serbia had also agreed to mutually recognise the COVID-19 vaccine certificate given by India. 

The announcement was made by Arindam Bagchi, Joint Secretary and official spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, through a Twitter post. “Mutual recognition of COVID-19 vaccination certificates continues!” he tweeted, adding “Five more recognitions for India’s vaccination certificate, including from Estonia, Kyrgyzstan, State of Palestine, Mauritius and Mongolia.”

The development comes just days after Foreign Secretary Harsh V Shringla affirmed that mutual discussions were in the works for the recognition of COVID-19 related vaccination certificates during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Italy last week, where he attended the G20 summit. 

Highlighting that the issue of vaccine certificates was brought up particularly with representatives of the European Union, Shringla had stated on Friday that the mutual recognition of vaccine certificates would facilitate easier international travels and the details pertaining to the recognition will be worked out bilaterally.

Meanwhile, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has disclosed that 78 per cent of India’s eligible adult population has been administered the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine while 38 per cent have received both doses. India on November 1 reported 12,514 new cases of COVID-19 and 251 deaths within the past  24 hours. The current recovery rate in the country is stable at 98.20% while the current active caseload stands at 1,58,817, the lowest in 248 days.
