Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL), a joint venture of Solar Energy Corporation of India and Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Limited, is the developer of the solar park. The company received an amount of Rs. 138 crore from the central government for the development of this plant.

The project was further delegated to three private companies for the development of each unit. ACME Jaipur Solar Power Pvt. Ltd, Mahindra Renewables Pvt. Ltd and Arinsun Clean Energy Pvt. Ltd. are the three companies which were selected by the RUMSL.

This plant is expected to be one of the major contributors in achieving India’s goal of having 175 GW installed renewable energy by 2022. This is also the first plant which is going to be supplying energy to an institutional customer outside the state. From the 100% capacity, the Delhi Metro will receive 24% of energy for its operations from this plant.

This project would also enable a carbon emission reduction which is equal to approximately 15 lakh ton of Carbon dioxide a year.

“With the solar plant in Rewa. the industries here will not only get electricity, but even the metro rail in Delhi will get its benefits.” said PM Narendra Modi. He also emphasized on this plant’s commitment towards meeting India’s 2022 renewable energy goal.

Prime Minister Modi also mentioned three other places where work for such solar plants is underway. These places include the districts of Shajapur, Neemuch and Chhatarpur in the state of Madhya Pradesh.
