UPSC announces new helpline number to assist aspiring candidates from EWS, PWBD and other categories

According to UPSC officials, the helpline will be operational on all working days during office hours.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) launched a new toll-free number on Wednesday, October 20, targeting government job aspirants belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PWBD).

The toll-free number —1800118711 — is being launched to provide assistance to candidates who have applied or are expecting to apply for the annual UPSC examination and recruitment.

According to UPSC officials, the helpline will be operational on all working days during office hours. It will provide guidance to any aspiring candidate from the specified categories facing difficulty in filling up and submitting any examination related form, recruitment process or any other queries regarding the Commission’s annual exam.

The initiative taken by the Commission comes in light of its effort to provide assistance and undertake queries from such candidates in a friendly and safe manner. This is expected to boost the accessibility of the highly competitive exam in different sections of society.

The step is also being regarded as a celebration of the “Azadi Ka Mahotsav,” honouring the 75th independence anniversary of India.

The main UPSC civil service examination is slated to be held next year over a course of 5 days — January 7,8 and 9, and again on January 15 and 16. Meanwhile, the preliminary exam for the same was conducted by the UPSC earlier this month on October 10th in an offline mode. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the UPSC Civil Services Examination every year for the posts of IAS, IPS, IFS, and others.
