As per the order of the BMC dated 19th July, 2023, all schools in Mumbai both private and public will remain closed tomorrow. This order came through after the IMD issued a heavy to very heavy rainfall alert in the city. With some districts such as Thane which were issued with the “Orange Alert”.
However, much like Mumbaikars, schools have decided that rains should not affect children’s education. As per various sources, online classes which were once seen as the daily practice during the COVID-19 lockdown, will return only for 1 day.
As of now, many private schools are in the works to notify their students of the 1 day of online classes to continue their education without disruption. While the Mumbai rains may seem to have affected every aspect of a citizen’s life, schools seem determined to promote educational continuity.
On the other hand, only a few private schools have opted for this alternative to the rains, other schools in the city or even government schools have not made any similar practices for their students.
