Schools and Universities across the country have been closed since March 16, when the centre announced a countrywide classroom shutdown as part of a number of measures taken to contain the outbreak.

The Ministry of Home Affairs, while announcing Unlock 1 on May 30, said that the decision on re-opening educational institutions  would be taken in July when a SOP will be released.

The Union Minister also announced that CBSE would be reducing its curriculum for the next academic year for all classes to make up for the time lost due to the lockdown. The curriculum would be reduced in proportion to the lost time.
