In light of the ongoing security concerns across several Indian states due to escalating military tensions with Pakistan, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced (via PTI) the postponement of the CA May 2025 exams. The exams will now be conducted from May 16 to May 24, instead of the earlier schedule.
The decision follows a series of ceasefire violations by Pakistan on the night of May 10, just hours after both nations agreed to halt all military activity under a bilateral ceasefire agreement. Explosions were reported across Srinagar and Udhampur, triggering blackouts and red alerts in multiple districts.
Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah raised alarm with a post on X, saying, “This is no ceasefire. The air defence units in the middle of Srinagar just opened up.” Videos from the region showed air defence units firing into the night sky, confirming active engagements with suspected Pakistani drones.
Additionally, the Border Security Force (BSF) was given a free hand to retaliate after heavy shelling was reported along RS Pura, Akhnoor, Chamb, and Bhimber areas.
In a statement, ICAI said the safety of students and staff is of utmost priority, and that the revised schedule will be shared on the official website. Students have been advised to stay updated through ICAI communication channels and follow all safety advisories issued by local administrations.
